I've released MasterGear 4.9.3 for Android, a new version of my Sega MasterSystem, GameGear, and SG-1000 emulator. The new release applies the final fix to keyboard key assignments and no longer displays the complete folder path in the File Selector title. Just the folder name is shown instead. As you remember, I had to disable cheat features to avoid Google staff banning MasterGear from the store. You can easily reenable cheats though by downloading this file and clicking on it in the File Selector

• Another fix to gamepad assignments to keyboard keys.
• Now showing folder name in the title instead of complete path.
• Now disabling keyboard options if there is no keyboard.

I've published MasterGear 4.8 for Android, a new version of my Sega MasterSystem, GameGear, and SG-1000 emulator. This release is based on the MasterGear 4.8 for Windows and Linux, released in February. It makes File Selector scrolling much faster, at the cost of not showing auxiliary files information on newer Android devices. I've released MasterGear 4.7.2 for Android, a new version of my Sega MasterSystem, GameGear, and SG-1000 emulator. For this release, I have fixed a bunch of bugs introduced by the refactoring. The app should once again run on Android 4.2+ devices and handle file names with parentheses and spaces. Several possible crash sources have also been fixed. I've just published MasterGear 4.7.1 for Android, a new version of my Sega MasterSystem, GameGear, and SG-1000 emulator. Starting this November, Google no longer allows Android apps to access files on Android10+ devices, outside app's sandbox. All storage access is now supposed to be done via something called "Storage Access Framework". I had to make major changes to MasterGear in order to comply with the new regulations. If you have a newer Android10+, you will see the list of storage volumes in the File Selector. Once you click on a volume, the app may ask you for permission to access it. Otherwise, things should work the same as before. If you find any new problems with the app though, please, report them to the support group or email me directly. See below for all the changes.

• Refactored app to comply with Google's latest ban on file I/O.
• On Android 10+, all file access is now done via content providers.
• Content is copied to a temporary folder for use, changes moved back on exit.
• You may have to give app separate permission to read each storage location.

I am releasing MasterGear 4.1 for Windows and Linux tonight. The new MasterGear fixes SMS display timings (PAL and NTSC) and sets scanline length to 228 CPU clocks. The Windows version adds support for multiple monitors, improves the best full-screen mode detection, and removes flicker that appeared after the recent Win10 updates. I have also fixed DirectInput support and made directional pads on Xbox gamepads work. The Linux version now uses PulseAudio for sound, so you will not need to mess with the OSS sound emulation. The new MasterGear 4.0.3 for Android is now online. This release fixes a bug where the File Selector would get stuck on unreadable folders, not letting the user switch away from them. This version will not let you go into unreadable folders. If you need to quickly jump between folders (such as internal and external storage), use the new "Change Folder" option in the File Selector. I have just released MasterGear 4.0 for Windows and Linux, the new version of my universal Sega MasterSystem, GameGear, and SG-1000 emulator. This release adds support for the SMS2 hardware model and now uses it as the default, since some games expect SMS2-specific features. I have also fixed many games, mainly ones made by Codemasters, and added support for DirectInput joysticks on Windows. See below for all the changes.

I have published MasterGear 4.0 for Android, the next major release of my Sega MasterSystem, GameGear, and SG-1000 emulator. This release adds support for the SMS2 console (aka Mark IV Jr) and its extended screen modes. GameGear compatibility improved as well, since some GameGear games use the same extended screen modes. I have also enabled EEPROM emulation in two more GameGear titles and fixed sprites in Madou Monogatari 2. Finally, by public request, MasterGear will no longer ask for the READ_PHONE_STATE permission, previously used to obtain the IMEI. I have now switched from IMEI to AndroidID, in case you need help and I have to identify your device in the logs. See below for all the changes.

MasterGear 3.7 for Android is now online. For this release, I have added support for "content://" URIs, so MasterGear should now work with more third-party apps, such as email clients and file managers. Among other things, compatibility with the latest Astro File Manager has been restored. I have also refactored quite a lot of code, including the virtual buttons implementation and the utilities for obtaining extended info from ROM files. See below for all the changes.

For the first time since last September, I released the new version of MasterGear for Windows and Linux. MasterGear 3.7 adds options to force the 4:3 "television" screen and disable Direct3D linear interpolation, if required. I have also made many improvements to MIDI playback and recording and fixed a few platform specific things here and there. See below for the complete change list.
